Best of Ecuador Tour
Do you only have a few days to explore Ecuador? Are you looking for a guided, educational and fun tour? Are you low on funds and want to see as much as you can? This trip, designed by a lone Ecuadorian explorer, covers the “Best of” Ecuador at a great price! This 18-day trip will take you all over and give you a taste of each region of Ecuador.
Day 1: Quito
Arrive in Quito at anytime and spend the day wondering through the historic sights of Old Town, or grab dinner in one of New Town´s upscale restaurants.
Day 2: Banos
Catch the bus with your guide to Banos: one of the adventure capitals of Ecuador. Check into your hostel and relax by night in one of the towns many thermal baths!
Day 3: Banos
After a relaxing night, get ready for some heart-pounding adventure! Choose from a wide variety of trips: Bungee jumping, rafting, canyoneering, and more. If the high adrenaline is not for you, you can always opt for a bike or horseback ride.
Day 4: Riobamba
Catch the bus from Banos and head south to Riobamba. While here, you can take a day trip to see Chimborazo, Ecuador´s highest volcano.
Day 5: Alausi
Make the short trip to Alausi from Riobamba to prepare for tomorrow´s big adventure!
Day 6: Devil´s Nose Train
Wake up early in the morning for this exhilarating two hour train ride that will take you winding through the Andes Mountains. This unusual tourist stop is a must-do when passing through southern Ecuador! The train circles back to Alausi, and after you will make your way to Loja.
Day 7 & 8: Vilcabamba
Catch an early bus to Vilcabamba. You will check into one of Ecuador´s best hostels, Hostel Izcayluma, where you can relax for the day by the poolside or take advantage of the many hikes or horseback rides offered by the hostel. You can also visit the Rumi Wilco Nature Reserve to hike and see some of the unique Ecuadorian flora.
Day 9, 10 & 11: Cuenca
Get ready for a long day of travel! Make your way back up north to the charming city of Cuenca. Spend a full day wandering the quaint streets or take the opportunity to visit Cajas National Park or the ancient ruins of Incapirca. Take the overnight bus to the Guayaquil.
Day 12 & 13: Guayaquil
Enjoy wandering around the big city of Guayaquil, Ecuador´s financial center. Far more modern than Quito, but still a good opportunity to walk along the boardwalk or see iguanas in the park!
Day 14 & 15: Puerto Lopez
Spend your days relaxing on the beach or hop on a short boat ride to the Isla de Plata, where you can see many of the same plant and animal species as the Galapagos in the Machilla National Park. Here, you can also visit the gorgeous beaches of Los Frailes.
Day 16, 17 & 18: Canoa
This small fishing village on the coast of Ecuador will be the perfect way to end your trip. By day, take some surfing lessons with some locals and by night, watch a pacific sunset from a hammock. Take the night bus back to Quito.
